Teaching Philosophy
My objective as a teacher of elementary students includes supporting the development of skills needed to progress and succeed academically. I am fully prepared to teach students at the elementary level. I will include lessons and activities that will keep my students fully engaged and excited to learn. My goal is to reach all of my students and help them improve during my time as their teacher.
I intend to create a learning environment that is safe, positive, and welcoming where children are free to speak their mind and grow as individuals. I will ensure that my students feel physically safe, as well as emotionally and intellectually safe. I will always model appropriate behavior for my students to learn from. I will incorporate positive classroom management skills into my daily instruction. As a class we will address and embrace our diversity and fill our classroom with different learning styles.

I will address the needs of all my students, regardless of abilities and disabilities. Every child’s learning style will be taken into consideration before planning and implementing instruction. I will maintain a balance between whole group instruction, small group collaboration, and individual work. I will use a variety of learning strategies to ensure that instruction is effective for all students. I will utilize technology resources to enhance lessons and will provide students with hands-on activities, projects, and cooperative learning.

I will build good relationships with my students based on mutual respect and trust. It is my role to make my classroom to be less of a class and more of a community, where we are all sharing ideas and communicating and learning from one another at the same time. Within my classroom, I will use strategies to ensure that our classroom community will grow, like the morning meeting, positive vs. negative discipline, classroom jobs, and problem-solving skills.

I believe in implementing informal assessments in order to evaluate student progress. I will incorporate class discussions, teacher observations, and exit tickets in order to assess how well my students understand the topics. I will also use these assessments to determine how well I am presenting my instruction. I will be able to alter my plans in any way that I need to ensure that my students understand the material. If needed I will change the pace of my lessons, focus more on specific parts, and use manipulatives.

Teaching children is a passion of mine. I will work hard and do whatever it takes to become a great teacher day by day. I am inspired to learn from my students and through my experiences I will encounter. I hope to always improve as a teacher and continue to grow with time.
